Bedding?

Right now we use aspen bedding, we are looking at changing it but are unsure of what to change it too.. We have a glass tank with a humidity problem and half the mesh top is covered..

the bedding isn't your problem, ita the glass enclosure. pick up a 28qt sterlite tub and a $5 soldering iron to melt ventilation holes into it and you should be able to keep the humidity up easier.

I recommend cypress mulch.

If possible cover as much of the top with foil as possible.

If you have lamp(s) on top, leave just enough room for it/them with an extra 1/4 inch or so for safety and ventilation.

You may have to experiment with bedding.

For instance, Sauzo is a huge proponent of Aspen as is others. I don't care for it for humidity.

I love the bag of fine Eco-earth coconut husk. But first, I lay down a layer of clay balls, which I got at Petsmart. The balls hold much more water and Slowly release it.
Yeah the Coconut is sticky, but that is temporary. It will pack it down in a firm foundation that makes cleanup a breeze and lasts a very long time!
I've never had mold problems like I did with Aspen. Funny thing is, Sauzo says the opposite.:)
That's why I say you may have to try different stuff out and see what works for you.

Once I went to coconut, my humidity improved drastically. When I added the foil, it was pretty much perfected.

No, sorry, but me personally I am not a fan of tubs.. I enjoy the glass tank

I will definitely try the coconut bedding, we are very interested to see if it works!

Before you pour the water on top, go ape with misting the bedding first.

It will be sticky, but your snake will pack it down.

i am more interested in whats best for the animal, personally

Maybe best for your animal, I am not a fan of tubs, I like tanks, I like my snake to have trees and branches to climb not 2" of space to barely move... this is my opinion, you have yours let's leave it at that and continue on about what substrate would be best for a glass tank...

i apologize, that came out a little more snarky than i intended. glass enclosures have worked well for people, i have had better success with tubs. best of luck.
