    Trying to escape?
I tried finding a thread that might help me out instead of posting about it, but maybe it'll be better if I just ask. My 2 year old King has always been active, he likes to climb around a fair bit but lately I've noticed he'll stretch up and push on the lid of his terrarium. I made sure to get a latching lid with a lock on it as I've heard that kings can be quite the escape artists! I was just curious, though, if maybe him pushing on the lid as if he wants out could be a result from him not being comfortable in his home? I've only seen him do it after his light goes out at night and he comes out to play. He pushes pretty hard too, sort of works at it with his nose.
So, perfectly normal king snake behaviour or could he be trying to tell me something? I've never had any problems with his husbandry so far, he sheds perfectly, eats like a champ and goes to the bathroom regularly (he's my perfect snake, never had a problem since day one!). Any help is appreciated, not really worried, more curious about it than anything! :)

    Thanks!

All snakes are escape artist. If your numbers are good all is well. Many of my snakes search all over their cage looking as if they might find a way out. Its pretty normal.

It's normal. In fact all of my King's have "gone walkabout" at least once. One did it twice.
