    Algae problem
Just recently, and I haven't moved anything or did anything different but I just noticed recently my water bowl was starting to grow algae in it. Is anyone else having this issue?

No, I usually change my water bowls every three days. When I change the water, I wash the bowls throughly. How often are you changing/cleaning yours?

I was doing it every 5-7 days. Been doing that forever with no issues till now. I didn't know if it was being caused by my house being warmer since it's cold here by me so he's tank might of gone up a little in temp but idk. I can switch it up to cleaning water every 3 days though, that's not a problem.

I use to go longer, like 4 to 5 days. But noticed a light build up of film on the surface. Hope this helps you out. Just curious, what type of set up are you housing them in?

Thanks man for the help, I'm going switch to every 3 days water cleaning for him. Currently he is housed in a glass tank, hoping to get a animal product setup for him soon.

Are you using a plastic dish? If so I would replace it with a glass or metal dish.

Could the sunlight be possibly hitting the bowl this time of year?

No sunlight hits it because I have it between my two windows in my room and also I blacked out the back and sides so he would feel more comfortable. I wish it was something easy to figure out because this is just odd how out of no where it started when it's been like this for 2-3 years lol.

No problem, I noticed the film built up faster in my glass tanks verses my NP cages.
