Infrared heat light vs CHE for rack
So I chose to get my ball pythons during winter. During the day their racks temps are perfect. 78-80 on cool side, 88-91 on hotspot. At night it had been dropping to 75 and 74. I own both an infrared light and a CHE. Both are 75 watts, however I don't have a dimmer or a second tstat for one to be used. Do I need a dimmer for them if I run one of these at night? How far would you recommend I put it? I have a camera tripod that I can zip tie the dome/ clamp to. Would this create an oven, or would it be perfect? Today was cold out so I left it on before leaving for classes. I'll leave my results when I get home in 20 minutes, but what do you guys think, light or CHE and dimmer or no dimmer? Where to place it? Would this heat a rack at all?

Re: Infrared heat light vs CHE for rack
I just got home an checked the temps, it read 90. Unfortunately this was their hotspot not the ambient temp. I put the fan on incase it was too hot and when I realized I checked the hotspot, their ambients were at 81. So no clue what it was. Rather than try to use the bulb again I'm going to do what you said. Although it did lower my humidity by 10 degrees and it was like 15 degrees too high. Thanks, I'm going to try the towel/ blanket method tonight
