Dbl Het Genetic Stripe X Hypo?
    Hello all.

I have a quick question... Recently was going to buy two yellowbelly BPs so that I could try to breed an Ivory, but sadly they only had a female, so instead I got a Dbl Het Genetic Stripe X Hypo Ball Python. The problem is I havn't got far enough into BP genetics to understand that name... How is it double het, and does the X mean it is double het genetic stripe AND het hypo? Also, I am trying to put the snake into a BP genetic generator, but I am having trouble figuring out how I would put that into a calc.

    Thanks!

    Hello,
Genetic stripe and Hypo(ghost) are two different recessive morphs.
    /see here http://ball-pythons.net/forums/forum...cessive-Morphs /

For the recessive gene, to get a visual (homozygous) animal, need a pair of the mutated gene in same allele.
    /see here : http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...Basic-Genetics /

That double hetero made from a Genetic stripe and hypo (ghost) pairing, which means he looks normal, but have two different mutated gene in different alleles. You can pair with hypos or hetero ghosts and genetic stripes or hetero genetic stripes to (hopefully)get visual (homozygous) offsprings.

For the genetic calculator you can choose Het. Genetic stripe (under Genetic stripe) and Het. Ghost (under Ghost). Like this you have a normal looking 2 genes ball python.

I hope I don't make too much mistake, but if yes, in the links you'll find every information what you need :)

Was it a possible ot 100% on both of the hets?

If 100% then one parent was a visual gen strip and the other was a visual hypo.

I Forgot that option, without the pos. word. But if not 100%, we just mark pos. het. (X%). I seriously hope every breeder :weirdface

Yes, I bought a female yellow belly and the double het. And thank you all, I understand better now... It did not have any percentage in the name so I assume it is 100% correct?

    Also:
    12.5% 1/8 Normal
    12.5% 1/8 Yellow Belly
    12.5% 1/8 Het. Genetic Stripe
12.5% 1/8 Yellow Belly Het. Genetic Stripe
    12.5% 1/8 Het. Ghost
12.5% 1/8 Yellow Belly Het. Ghost
12.5% 1/8 Het. Ghost Het. Genetic Stripe
12.5% 1/8 Yellow Belly Het. Ghost Het. Genetic Stripe

According to this chart, if I breed the dbl het and yellow belly, my yellowbellys would be 50% G.Stripe and50% het Ghost and the normals would also be 50% G.Stripe and50% het Ghost correct?

The breeder gave you genetic guarantee when you purchased him?

You have 75% chance for the offsprings carries recessive gene. Correct, by chance 50% pos. het. GS / 50% pos. het. Ghost
    25% non carriers
    25% hetero just for Ghost
25% hetero just for Genetic stripe
    25% dbl het Ghost/Genetic stripe

It's just my point of view, but I think it's pure masochism to raise up and prove out every single baby. Can be a really long time no guarantee project.
