ive noticed that ever since i switched adrians hides that she has become more active? shes never fully in her new hides, and shes always changing positions. shes about 510grams, 3ft long. is this normal? or could there be another explanation for this?

I think that once they get past the "frightened baby stage" and realize that nothing is going to hurt them, they decide that hiding all the time is not necessary.
As long as your hidespot temps are not too hot or cool, I'd say there's nothing to worry about. Apache spends a lot of time outside his hide during the day, and I figure he is just regulating his inner temperature or something snakey like that. :)

Yeah, I built Issa another hide out of an empty cottage cheese container. It's more secure than his half log, and I moved it over to the cool size of his tank in case his half log got to warm (As far as I can tell with the temp gun, it's never more than 83 degrees in there, but it's his decision).

I found him curled up in it this morning, and I think he's happier for it.

He had been curling up behind his half log, or between his branch, the tank wall and close to the log.

I guess either his half log wasn't quite the right temp to his liking right now, or he wanted to feel more secure.

Since I moved Kitty to his new encloseure he has spent all of his hiding time on the cool side wedged between the waterfall and the wall, even right after he ate. I am not sure why.

rex322 .. i gotta go with Gin on this one. Once they realize that they are either bigger, or are going to be bigger than you they chill out. Homer was like that for a little while, and then he was all over the place. Sprocket would never hide. She was fearless :D
