Can't get temps just right ?
Hi all..... I've been taking readings with a temp gun, and under the ceramic directly its 93f , but inside the warm hide its only low 80's around 82 at best, the cool side ambient is 75f.... If I turn it up obviously the floor directly will go over 93f, can it go hotter than that in order to raise my overall temps elsewhere ? If I move the warm hide directly under the ceramic to raise inside hide temps then the roof of the hide is over 100f ?
Any ideas please!

There's nothing wrong with that. An ambient temp of 80-85 is good for the warm side! If you want to try and raise the floor temperature in one spot you should get a heat mat of some sort, because you will not get a basking area up to 90 on the floors with a heat lamp without raising the ambient temperatures too much.

Yeah it was the inside hide temp of main concern, he seems to be doing fine, I guess this heat mat for hotspot being a must for digestion isn't a must after all.... Hopefully he will seek out the higher temps outside of his hide if needed! Thanks

Yes I understand, my enclosure is wood and I guess the high floor temps aren't dangerous like they would be from a uth as the heat is from above so wouldn't continue at high temps under the snake, ambient air temps I presume will be more beneficial and natural than a hotspot on the floor with cooler air around it? The temps in the hide are about the same as outside the hide with just hotter surfaces outside..... Which again I guess is more natural than hotter inside the hide and cooler outside! He seems to digest just fine in the warm end with ambient temps.
Things make a bit more sense now..... Thanks
