    Ugh.....mites
So I am having a really bad mite problem. I bought some prevent a mite at the reptile show. My concern is I use the storage shelf diy rack that has a lot of crevices and hiding places for mites. Is there anyway to get rid of them in this type of rack....or since I have some extra money, should I just get better, easier to clean racks?

You can apply PAM to the rack as well as the tubs, hides, and paper substrate. Just let everything dry before your snakes come into contact with everything.

^^^ Agree'd .... The fumes will get into the cracks wood and the fumes kill them as well .... Just be sure to keep your snakes out of contact with the fumes .... As said above, when it's dry and you can't smell the fumes any longer then it's safe to return your snakes, while your waiting for it to dry you could take that time and wipe everybody down with reptile spray ... Good luck :gj:

My concern is I would have to take apart the racks as they are not easily moved outside. I have 20 snakes that need to be treated and worry about the fumes if I spray the racks inside of my house.

Use Reptile Spray. Its safe to use on the animal and there are no fumes to be concerned over. When I got mites I used Reptile Spray on everything, even the carpet without any issues.

Don't give up keep using the Pam and keep wiping your snakes down on a regular basis. You have to break up the mites reproductive cycle. If you keep using the products regularly you will win. I use those products monthly as a precaution.

I will say, skip the pam, get some bedding spray fro, the store, it runs like $6 and is only 1 oz less than the pam and it is the exact same thing.
