Reflectix for humidity

Hey all,

I used reflectix, basically an aluminum foil thats used for insulation, as a cover for my terrarium in order to hold in humidity. Anyone else use this? Because its not working for me! I am thinking of trying a sheet of plexiglass if I can get someone to cut it, as I have heard of people having success with this.

Humidity hovers around 45%

Its a struggle for glass tanks to hold humidity if you dont have foggers sadly or live in a very dry area. For me I have to do a combination of things to keep humidity in, even then it still lowers a few hours later, sucks.
But I cover most the mesh top with tin foil to keep heat in, then cover that with cling wrap for humidity. I also use Eco earth substrate and put Sphagnum moss around the enclosure and in the hides to help again with humidity.
I live in such a very dry area though that even with this combination, I can spray the tank and 5-10 mins later you can just see the substrate drying up to a crisp again, sigh.

Humidifiers in my experience actually decrease the humidity within the enclosure!, strange I know. But I hear of two things that are solid. That's plexi glass top and foggers.

I've been using Reflectix and am pretty happy with it. Hard to see but I used duct tape to make a flap all the way around, so there is a pretty good seal and the small opening on the right side can be covered during shed to help hold in moisture.

Also used sphagnum moss but find it ends up everywhere so instead have tried this lo-tech humidifier (rolled up paper towels inserted into plastic bowl of water) and it seems to help raise humidity in tank.

Thanks for the great advice! I don't really want to spend money on a fogger since I just bought this humidifier. I should have just bought mist King lol. I am going to try the plexiglass to start!
