have you ever shipped snake(s) without heat pack in cold weather?

I`m out of heat packs now and buyer wants me to ship the snake by tomorrow.
Night Temp of detination is 41f. and my area is 27F. Well daytime temp of my area is above 52F and the temp. of destination is 68F. I`m going to drop off the snake to fedex shipping center around 7pm. However, I still have enough time to cancel the shipping and wait for better time to ship or just issue refund to seller. Do you guys think it`s insane to ship snake without heat pack in this temperature?

I would not do it. Overnight temps are going to drop, you just don't know by how much, you also don't know if there are going to be problems shipping that could delay delivery, (over 2000 flights around the east coast are being canceled or delayed due to weather, that's GOT to affect flights around the rest of the country too) If the buyer insists then refund his money. The health of the snake should come first.

Yes.

Definitely do not ship with out a heat pack...I would not even ship today or tomorrow with a heat pack...Like Mark mentioned the weather is getting pretty bad in certain areas.

Yes it's insane to even consider it.

When shipping you need to take the temperature in consideration on 3 locations

Origin (usual the snake will be there until 11pm or so)

Main hub (Memphis or Indianapolis or Fort Worth etc) where the snake can be there between 12am to 5am

And origin (anywhere between 7 am to 10.30 am or more depending on when the animal is delivered)

Is there a place/site to determine this location definitively based upon origin and destination? If not, how do you recommend doing so?

There is none also depending on where you live and where the package is going it will narrow down the possibilities but you will not know which hub your box will fly into until your label is printed

When you label is printed here are the code that tell you which hub will be used

A Fort Worth TX

W Oakland CA

N Indianapolis IN

X Memphis TN

Q Los Angeles CA

Numbers In state


I live in GA and based on shipping over the last 7 years I will say that 90 percent of my packages go through memphis and indianapolis, a few have went into Fort Worth, therefore Memphis and Indianapolis are really the ones I pay extremely close attention to.

Unfortunately no, I've had stuff from CA come in to me through both Lexington, KY and Chicago, IL based on FedEx's workload that day.

Also the NE is getting hammered by a blizzard today through tomorrow which will have a nationwide ripple effect on shipping.

I think a large number of the packages I've gotten come through Atlanta even when it takes a longer route to get here.
