    Snake Tubs/Breeding
    Hi All!

I am no where close to breeding but am interested in the research for now. I would love to know what size bins/tubs you're using for various ages (hatchlings, juveniles, sub-adults, and adults). My collection is starting to grow and I'm considering a rack system in the very near future.

    I appreciate all your help!

When I created that chart, I was trying to relate Sterelite tub sizes and aquarium sizes. I was trying to use Sterelite tubs since they were the easiest to purchase. Now I use Vision tubs for my hatchlings and juveniles, and Sterelite 41 quart tubs for my adults (though, I would like to get V-70 tubs for my adults in the future because they don't have the groves that Sterelite 41 quart tubs have which are time consuming to clean). I chose to get Vision tubs for my hatchling rack because of the flexibility they offer. If you build or buy a rack for a short V-35 tub, that tub can be replaced by 2 V-18 tubs or 3 V-15 tubs. A V-15 tub can hold a hatchling up to about 200 or 250 grams. A V-18 Tub can hold a juvenile up to 900 grams. And a short V-35 tub can hold a snake up to 1300 grams or so. My hold back girls and even my adult males are kept in the short V-35 tubs. My adult girls are kept in Sterelite 41 quart tubs.

    Here is a picture showing 2 short V-35 tubs with 2 V-18 tubs with 3 V-15 tubs

And here are my adult racks and hatchling rack

    Hope this helps.

That's information I'll take into consideration when building future racks. I don't remember when exactly when I found the chart but when I got my first ball python I was searching google to see if there was any kind of feeding chart similar to what people use for clubrids. Even though I bought a care book written by the southerlands from TSK, I personally like to do a vast amount of research because what works for 1 person might not work for the next. Ball pythons with all their quirks and shyness are fascinating animals.

I use V18 for hatchlings and juices up to 500 grams, 32 quarts for adult males and females up to 1800/2000 grams and V70 for anything larger than that.

Yeah - at around the 4-500 gram range in a V18 it feels like I'm housing juices too after they pee. :) I joke that it's upgrade time when they start flooding themselves out of the things.
