    How hot is too hot?
Hi everyone. I'm new here and have a bit of a dilemma.
I recently bought new heat gauges for my BP's cage since the old ones didn't seem to be reading right. I put the new ones in today and his hot side is reading around 95!! is this too hot?
He has been acting completely normal. He eats a rat about once every 1.5 weeks, drinks good, hides during the day, explores at night. He actually prefers hiding in the hide on his hot side and not his cool side.

For heat right now he has a lamp and a tank heater mounted on the side. Ideally, I'd like to get rid of the lamp, but my dad and I build his cage ourselves, and instead of using glass we used a form of plexiglass ( a mistake) so the side-mounted heater does not transfer heat as well as it should. Without the lamp i'm afraid his cage might get too cold. The rest of his cage is made from wood, and I use newspaper as substrate.
I do own a heat rock(its not in his cage currently because I don't want him to burn himself) Maybe I could put that in his cage and cover it with a towel so it could still give heat but not burn him?
Even though he is acting fine I feel very guilty for slipping up on his care.

Anyone have any ideas on what I can do for heat? or is 95 ok?
Should I just get him a whole new cage? My dad and I dont have to time to build him another one right now.

    thanks for all your help.

the extra 1 degree is not going to hurt your snake, as long as what you are measuring is the hottest part.

Also you might as well toss that heat rock in the trash.

    okay thank you, I guess I over-reacted a bit. :)
