Birth Defects
I got a male ball python today with a kink in his spine and wanted some opinions on it. Its a relatively big kink in the lower half of his spine, towards the middle. and he has two lump like spots on his underbelly. one in the middle and one on his lower half. The breeder said it was a birth defect. He is over a year old. Eats well, sheds well ( tho it has to be very humid), and has a good temperament. He does have a little bit of a digestive issue (liquidy poo), but thats it.
Besides that he is the sweetest cutest little guy.
what do yall think?

Can you post a picture of him?
I tend to collect 'special needs' herps; they can be some of the most rewarding to keep IMO. Sounds like your guy is generally pretty healthy which is a plus!

A bit sad that he has a birth defect, but if he's happy and healthy, nothing else matters.

ok. im feeding him today but ill try to get some pics of him tomorrow and post em. But ya he seems completely normal. Really shy, but stubborn and curious.

If you had no history, going by your description, I would think it was caused by trauma.
But since the breeder knows the snake from birth, he would have no reason to lie.
The deformity sounds like it could be in the stomach area, if not, then the intestinal area. That may explain the loose stools if consistent.
But as you say, other than that, normal and sweet - congrats on your new boy! :)
