If you just left the rat there, she may sense that its dead.. so had no need to strike coil etc.. just went straight in for the swallowing.. :gj::snake:

My kings and bulls will sometimes not strike and constrict their prey either. I've had to do a few more drop feeds over the past few months too, especially with my normally voracious kings. My motto is if your husbandry is dialed in and they're eating, pooping and shedding without issues I don't worry. Best wishes.

Ya my temps are dialed in much better now then before with a new temp gun added to my arsenal. Guess I'm just over thinking it lol

Hey man if she's eating it doesn't matter how just be happy ;)
My BP went on a 10 month fast I would of took him eating weird ways if it meant he'd eat. Lol

Excellent point haha most she ever went off food for me was 2 months. Definitely a solid Eater just thought it was weird for a constrictor to not constrict lol

A lot of snakes do this it is perfectly normal it sensed it was dead and ate it. happens in the wild too so don't fret ;)
