How long do you keep a F/T rat in with your Ball Python?

Quick question!
As we all know Ball Pythons can be picky eaters every once in a while. Once I figured out the magic way that my ball python will almost always take his food (dry it with a hair dryer until its warm and dry) there is still the rare time where he just wont strike. How long do you keep your rat in with your snake before you throw it out.
I also feed him in a separate container, so I don't want to leave him too long due to temperatures.

Feed him in his enclosure and leave F/T rats in overnight.

Feed in-tank and put a paper plate down if you're worried about the snake swallowing substrate. Like Kibbles said, overnight is long enough.

I have a very picky male normal. I gave him his f/t feeder one evening about 8 pm and left it with him overnight. I checked him at 7:00 am the following morning just in time to catch him swallowing it.

As long as overnight, I have had animals that would never strike, so I would leave the prey on the enclosure's floor and remove it in the morning if uneaten.

Overnight. Just don't forget it or you'll come home to a smelly rat balloon. :puke2:
