SFE, yep I did

I made a Stupid Feeding Error feeding my biggest bp Saturday evening and got a bite for my trouble. I *knew* I was making one, even as I did it, too, so I have no excuse.

I dropped a freshly killed rat out of a bag into her enclosure, with her way on the other end, but it fell right into the corner with its back to the cage. I knew that would make it hard to find the head and start swallowing, so instead of grabbing the little kid's fishing pole I have a few feet away specifically for the purpose of moving prey like this, I reached my hand in, nice and warm and moving close to rat scent, and got tagged. The cool thing is that you can actually see top and bottom jaw positioning from the teeth marks she left behind. It's too bad it probably won't scar, but no, I don't want to repeat the experience to try for a scar.

For those who would ask -- yes, it hurt, but not as badly as the kitten scratch I got half an hour later about 1/4" away from the bottom jaw bite.

I still reach in with my hand after Monty Joe has refused another meal, I figure since he is off feed he isnt going to tag me....but I guess I could be the fool one of these days...

SFE ... we have all had one at one point or another. Heck i can still remember when i would do the rat dance with my hand :shock:. I gotta ask about the fishing pole tho .... how do you get the hook out :lol: ;)

LOL -- it's just a pole, like they make for preschoolers to use, and my kids are much bigger than that now. There's no hook involved. :) Carl, as long as he's not hungry you are probably okay, but I still wouldn't recommend it unless you're just itching to join the club.

i use my dart gun, but i take out the mouth piece,dart holders and the tip thingie (anyone with a dart gun knows what im talkin about)

when i first gave roxy her very first pre killed i gave it to her right from my hand (i held it from the tail) one time she was having a hard time getting it down so i just stuck my hand in there and helped her out, i prolly shouldent have but she got it down once i helped her out.I never want her to swallow anything backwards, it scares me.

with the corn......i just drop the pinkies in there and let her do her thing, it really doesnt matter which way she eats it becuase pinkies bones are basicly just squishy cartilige so she can take them backwards.

anyways i think ive made at least two SFE's but never managed to get tagged (thank god)
