    I was wonderon how much would u recommend 2 be covering the uth (my tank is 36" x 18") like 1/2 3/4 or totally covered?

    becuz in my ten gallon i have 3/4 on top 0f the heat mat and it stays 79 on the cool side and 88 on the hotside

    Woah, hold your horses, you only posted a half hour ago :) I have mine covering a bit over 1/4 of the tank. I have the same size tank as yours... but the ambient temp of my bedroom is pretty warm and keeps my cool side up.

    79 on the cool and 88 on the warm is perfect. I'd leave your setup just like that :D

    I've got just one heating pad under each of my rubbermaids. It covers about one-third of the bottom of the tank, and like invadertoast my snake room stays pretty warm anyway.
