    Live plants
Can anyone explain to me how to actually do this successfully? Do I need to build water table with pebbles and stuff on the bottom or can I just plant roots into my substrate? I use eco earth. I have been thinking about this for a while and talked to a few pet store people they told me just leave them in their pots but to me that would look tacky. Any info would be appreciated.

I have live plants. All the plants in the substrate in the pics are real. I used cypress mulch for a good while but now use a mixture of cypress, eco earth, and repti bark in all my cages and tank with live plants. I plant them directly into a thick layer of substrate but still keep the substrate thin over the uth on the warm side. I have never done anything special for them as in adding rocks.

I buy them from Petco and they come in a slotted pot with a sponge like material holding the roots. I keep them in these pots and the roots grow out and spread out in the substrate great. I just have to be carful when I redo my substrate to not tare the roots when I remove them.

To water them I pour water directly on them and soak the substrate around them every few days.

If you are asking about the first pic it is actually deceptive in the pic. The pieces of wood are just driftwood. It is the same wood that are in the other lower pics and I have positioned them in different ways over the years.

My hides in the first pic are a large tortoise shell and a black plastic ReptileBasics box hide. I have moss surrounding the black hide to camouflage it with the water bowl on top of it. If you look close you can see my BP peeking out.

If you meant the second pic thats my Hoggys tank. That is also just a chuck of driftwood. I set it up to give the look of a tree and if I was to flip it around it really looks like a tree. How I have it right now it creates a subterranean cave which is perfect for my hoggy that loves to burrow. She burrows tunnels all through the substrate that come into the cave area I created.

All the driftwood I have came from the pet store. its nothing special, just pieces I found and liked the shape as it fit my intended use well.

All the green leaves on the tank walls are just the suction cup kind mixed up and hung in a way to give the tank more of a natural look.
