    Feeding question
Typically feeding isnt an issue however tonight was a little odd. My female bp didnt strike her rat she just coiled around its neck. I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but I have never seen it happen before. This was a live rat, I have had no luck with f/t. All advice welcomed TIA

So what's the question? Sometimes they just coil their food weird but as long as they don't get bit and eat their food, everything is alright. I feed live as well so I make sure I watch the strike to make sure everything goes well.

This isn't really in answer to your question, but are you making sure your f/t rats are hot enough? My snake will not touch them unless they are about 95-105 degrees when I measure with the temp gun. Any lower than that and I don't think she recognizes them as prey, but as soon as I get them warm enough, she strikes without hesitation. When I first got her she was feeding only on live, but I had no issues at all switching her over to f/t.

Also, as far as your question, what the person above me said ;). Sometimes our snakes are just weird...every time my snake eats, she strikes/coils it differently. One time, she struck at the rat but kind of "missed" it when she went to coil around it. So basically she stayed there squeezing...air....because she must have thought that she was coiled around the rat haha. Today when I went to feed her, she struck but she didn't even bother coiling around it. I would not worry about it, as long as she is eating and not regurgitating :)

    Re: Feeding question
Thank you both and actually my question or lack of was answered. I'm going to go with her just being weird at times. I always watch them feed to make sure everything goes ok.
    No regurge at all.
I'm thinking the f/t isnt warm enough based on the above comment. I will venture down that road again.
Thanks a bunch for your help :)

My BP has actually done this before, didn't strike just wrapped around.. I found it quite funny (I feed F/T)
I suppose it would look quite weird to see your BP just wrap around a live rat.

She might not be really hungry and is just eating to eat as snakes are pretty opportunistic. My red tail boa will sometimes just grab her pre killed rat and not even wrap it up, just grab it by the head and start swallowing. Then I know its time to extend the next feeding as she isn't really hungry but wont pass up a free meal

My bp Delilah is the funniest eater, instead of just wrapping one cool around the neck of the f/t rat she wraps the entire rat up with her whole body and ends up looking like a bee hive. I usually can't even see the rat anymore once she wraps it up. She's even stolen the tongs from me a couple times because she wraps so fast lol. Snakes are so goofy sometimes.
