    Rack System Questions
I have four BPs and having all the tanks around the room was absolutely crazy. I bought a rack system and a Herpstat yesterday. We use Aspen bedding in their tubs. I was wondering how to keep the bedding warm? We keep the heat tape at 85ºF at night and 89ºF during the day. However, the thermometer we have in the top rack reads 82ºF. I was wondering how to keep the heat raised and how much bedding should be in the tubs. When the snakes had tanks they had 2" of bedding. I feel as though I may have put too much bedding in the tubs and that is why I can't keep the temperature raised. Thank you :)

Where in the tubs are you measuring your temperature?
Heat tape is only for a hot spot, it will not heat the ambient temperatures much if any.
You don't need much aspen in there (I use paper towels) and you need to take temps UNDER the bedding not on the top side.

I found the humidity was way to high with aspen or Reptibark substrate so changed to paper towels in the rack. I use Flexwatt heat tape on tstat and don't have to use extra heat. But my ambient room temp is 80. And what Pit said about measuring temp of hot spot!! Because snakes can burrow even under paper towels.

I just switched to aspen because with 40 snakes it seemed like we were using endless paper towels. What do people think is best cost wise and snake comfort wise. They seem to love the aspen. They make little beds and play around in it.

I wish I lived near anything that had a sale. Mountain man over here. I will see if a friend can go to costco for me on his monthly trip down.
