    New Baby Ball Python!
Just got home from Repticon today, and I picked up a 2 month old, 110 gram lesser pastel male! He was super inquisitive on the ride home, I bet he didn't like being in the tub! When I handled him he was active, crawling over me and investigating other things. I have a 14 qt sterilite tub, with a Hobbystat thermostat and two nice hides, as well as a good-sized water bowl and a cardboard tube. The temps on the cold side are 76, and the warm side is at 92! The humidity is currently at 71! I'm using paper towels as substrate. I just wanna make sure everything is set, the tub is locked tightly and I have plenty of air holes!

After I just had put him in his new tub, I forgot I needed to adjust the probe and I lifted him out so I could fix it, and when I put him back in he bit me! This is my first snake, and I was a little afraid of biting me, but in reality, it wasn't as a big deal as I thought! It felt like someone barely flicked my hand, and it was so fast! I have two teeny little marks on my hands, but I'm more amused than afraid. I'll start to handle him in a week, after I feed him and he settles down a bit more. He seems like a really friendly snake, he really does! I could understand why he bit me, and I saw that he went in the "s" position before he struck. Now hes settled down and relaxing in his warm hide, poor thing has been though a lot today.

Hes gorgeous and I still have yet to decide a name for him, probably when I get to handle him more :)

Any advice on keeping my new snake for the first week? Also! How should I go about handling him? I wouldn't want to startle him again. I've done all my reasearch, I just wanna know how I should go about his first few weeks in his new home. Thanks! I'll post pictures of him later.

The best advice I can give you is to make sure you get him eating consistently for you before handling him. This means that he eats at least three meals in a row for you without a single refusal (if he refuses, start counting again at zero) before moving him for any reason other than to do quick cleaning and other small maintenance tasks. That'll give him a couple of weeks to get settled in while you're still getting your BP fix by hanging out with us on here. :)

    Good luck with him!

    Best regards,
    Eric

I got him from C&H Exotic Morphs! I also picked up a Cinnamon possible het ghost female for my friend :) Also thanks for the advice! I'll be sure to get him going on food before I handle him again, I got about 25 f/t rat pups from the expo to feed to him!

Ha! Curt's awesome. He's absolutely one of the good guys. I was contemplating recommending him to you as someone to look for there, but it looks like you just read my mind instead. If you haven't already, there's a good local FB group that you can join if you'd like. Curt and I are on there along with a ton of other local owners/breeders. PM me if you're interested in that at all.

Here's a pic of him in his container on the drive home. Hopefully I can get some better pictures soon! He's super pretty, especially in the sunlight :)

And don't worry too much about him biting you. Babies are nippy and most grow out of it. Just do as Eric suggested and you'll be fine. Nice looking lesser!
