Stargazing and IBD

I have been fortunate enough to never encounter IBD firsthand, or any other major reptile health problems so have only read descriptions of stargazing and never seen it firsthand.

I was in a shop a couple times the past few days and there is one red tail that has been in the corner of the cage every time with about 1/3 of its body resting vertically in the corner nose straight up in the air. Is this stargazing or just hanging out in the corner? How much of their body will they hold upright when exhibiting this symptom, and will it be freestanding as opposed to against the corner like this fellow is doing?

Also can IBD affect colubrids - corns, milks, hognose?

I dont think that is stargazing if he is resting in the corner. Was he in a corner near a light? Could just be trying to get warm (Ive seen em do that) What are the temps in his enclosure?

IBD is strictly a boid disease

I do not think the corner was not directly under the light. Next time I stop by there I willsee if I can see the thermometer.

A raise in the front part of the body can also be a major symptom of resperitory illness. And IBD is strictly in the boid family I believe

Yea, IBD is only known to infect the boid family
and as for RTB's hanging out with their noses up in the air in the corner....mine tended to do that here and there...but she's perfectly healthy...i had her at the vet two weeks ago for a check up, and no signs of problems. Shortly after moving her to a larger tank, I put a shelf in her cage, and shortly after doing that i noticed she tended to hang out on the shelf sometimes, but i haven't really seen her "corner climbing" as i nick named it

personally with my snake i didn't see it as a health problem or a sign of IBD or a resp infection - because none of the other symptoms were there, but i had her checked out....all is well

If the RTB is in a small tank, that could be the reason, i've noticed alot of times RTBS tend to try to climb and hang up the walls in small enclosures

I would check for any wheezing; sounds like an RI could be going on there. Is their husbandry and cage correct?

Mine baby RTB did this while he was in a 10gal awaiting a 20L now in his 20 he isnt hanging out vertical anymore.

Are there any pictures or videos of the behavior?
