    Heating with a Che
What wattage Che would be recommended for a 24x24x18? Perch is 7" from the light.

The snake is not able to reach this is it? What kind of cage are you using?

As far as the question I would get a high watt like the 100 and then get a dimmer to dial it in right where you need it. Using a higher watt bulb reduced will extend the life of it. You need to be very careful when using these. I have a 100 watt and it produced temps in the 600s on the element. The one on my ball tank that has been on 24/7 for 2.5 years and is still going strong.

The best option would be to go with a RHP on a tstat if it will work on your cage type.

It is on a glass tank it will be in a zoomed dual deep dome. It is going to be mounted on a zilla bracket that hangs above the tank. There is a temp probe that is going to be attached to the back of the tank and to the basking site that runs the contoller/thermostat. It turns off at 87 degrees or whay ever it is set to by me.

If I got a rhp can it rest on the screen top?

Im not sure about resting a rhp on the screen.

For the setup you're going for a dimming tstat is going to work best. An on/off style is going to shorten the life of the che and not give you as consistent numbers.

Many people that have not found the che to work well and complain about them burning out often use the wrong style fixture. The double dome will work but I prefer the wire basket style that is actually for a che. The issue is the che creates so much heat that when it is used in a enclosed dome fixture the heat builds up at the base and burns out the unit. Che's are not cheap but can be if you can make them last. I would look into the wire fixture since they are cheap and could save you a lot of money in the end.
