Thermostat: anyone got experience with this product?
Browsing online for thermostats and saw this thing. That price for a thermostat with a digital interface and day/night temp settings got my head turning, but I'm wary of under par products. Cheap doesn't pay with thermostats usually. So does anyone have experience with this product? Is it gonna crap out on me in under a year, or is that a great value?

That thermostat is 220v, so you can't plug it into a regular 110v wall outlet.
It also has 220v plugs for the heat lamp, or uth.

I think I actually have a spare one of those outlets hanging around here from when I swapped out the one for my dryer, haha. Can grab a matching plug from Home Depot or Lowe's, and I assume that would work just fine when wiring up some heat tape. Is that why it's so cheap though? Because the ports are non-standard?

Also, I assume because it's manufactured, and is shipping out of China.

For about the same price I think the Reptile Basics Hobbystat would be a better buy.

can't speak to that thermo specifically but I've ordered a ton and I mean a ton of stuff from Ebay, knives, bicycles, clothing the only stuff I've had nearly 100% bad experiences with is the electronics from China. USB video recorder-crap, lap top battery-crap. They make thermos even cheaper than the one you linked to. I'd stay away base on my experiences with Ebay/Chinese electronics.

Hmm, that's one is still a twist dial model, and you have to buy a separate part that cost about half the original price of the thermostat to enable day/night temp cycling. I would much rather have a digital one with programmable options already in place.

Good to know. Think I'll aim toward saving up for a new Herpstat and keep my eye out for any cheap ones that pop up in the mean time.

You don't need the day/night options on that thermostat for BPs. If that's what's guiding your decision, I wouldn't place nearly as much importance on it. Sounds like you're gearing up for the Herpstat though, which is a much better product anyway.
