I guess this sounds like a silly question.. but I read somewhere that rack systems can stress out breeder snakes because of the movement of the drawers sliding in and out. Is this true?

well i have never heard that but any time you mess with your snake to much that can stress them out

Even if they were in a tank/cage you'd have to open the lid and stuff. Besides, people who breed snakes usually have a large collection and end up housing them in racks themselves. I've not heard that either.

I've never heard of that either and it does sound rather ridiculous to me...as Tiger said, most breeders have a large collection and I would wager that the majority house them in racks.

That's what I thought. It was probably somewhere that was selling vision cages or something.. which are pretty expensive compared to a homemade rack, so that's why I was asking since I want to breed snakes.

All of my ball pythons thrive in freedom breeder racks! They eat and breed like crazy. I would have to say that in my experience, racks do not stress ball pythons.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm glad that wasn't true.
