First bite :(

So my girl geneva who is close to seven feet bit me today. Ive had her about a month or so and handled her every other day at least. Today she had her tail wraped around me and I had most of her body resting in my arm. Well her tail fell she griped me from fear of falling I assume. She puffed at me I sat her down on my bed to get a better hold on her and she struck my arm. And imideatdeatly let go. Do you think this was from the falling that caused her to bite? Also should I be worried that she will strike again?

It sounds like she was fearful of something. When you handle her does she grip tightly or is she pretty relaxed?

Just be glad it wasn't a food response bite either. My five footer got me and that's not a quick kiss like what you got, it's a grab, wrap, and hold. You just have to grit your teeth and wait it out until the snake decides to let go.

Shes usually got a firm grip but I always assumed it was because of her size. Shes never been agressive. I usually hold het head with my left hand while most of her body rest aganist mine and held up with my right arm id say the last foot and a half of her sort of wraps around my side. This time it lost grip and she sort of flopped a little so I quickly set her down to re ppsition my hands when I picked her up she struck my arm.

Sorry that happened to you. She will probably be ok. Just be sure to hold her so that she feels secure. How bad did the bite hurt?

Welcome to the bite club! Part of working with/owning animals is the occasional kicks, bites, and scratches. She was probably just startled from almost falling. Don't let this instance keep you from handling her normally. Just have slow and deliberate movements. As with every other animal, don't anticipate them doing something "wrong", but just be ready when they do. It sounds like you handled the situation fine.
