What's their demeanor like. Are they scared of the world and nippy like a gtp. Or are they curious and bold and calm like a boa. Getting 3 retics Friday and want to see what yall have to say. I have a decent amount of experience with balls and large boas. Do you let yours settle after a flight? My balls and boas were friendly and exploring when I got them. Ate instantly and didn't stress at all. Play it by year? Do you recommend hook training from the start? Thanks for any and all responses.

Retics can vary as offspring come. So when you get a young snake, they could be full of spunk (kind of like a Burmese), or they might be really relaxed. a LOT of this depends on whether or not the breeder was handling the offspring before the sell, or if they were only handled during cleaning and feeding. If this is the case, they might be a bit jumpy.

As with most species, give them some acclimation time once they arrive. Get them in a QT area, and let them settle for a day or so, then offer food. I have offered food to scrawny looking retics the day they arrived, and they ate just fine with no issues. So the choice is at your own discretion, but waiting a day won't hurt them.

Start hook training early on, it will help later in life. When you open the cage simply tap their head a couple times, then go in and grab them as long as they are receptive. If they are not receptive, and you need to access them, use a hook to pull them out.

We got them in Friday. From vital. They are amazing in color and temperament. I am in serious love. You can tell the intelligence in their eyes. We got a hook before they came here. I read and watch videos endlessly so we were semi prepared. Will get some pictures up tomorrow. Gave them a soaking today so I want them to relax.
