I am in the wrong business
Life is hard. It's even harder when you're financially inept. If you can't afford $500 to purchase a dog, then why does leasing one at $95 per month for 27 months sound like a good idea - and the dog isn't even yours when you're done paying!

    Wow, just wow.

This isn't a car, it's a living breathing animal with a complex social structure. Imagine the emotional damage done to a dog when it has to be returned. Dogs being bounced around foster homes is bad enough. It took my dog months to finally settle in.

I won't even go into the fact these are most likely puppy mill puppies.

The couple in that article don't see very smart at all. While termed a lease, it's a payment contract so if they stop making payments the seller can get the dog back.

    Quote:

The contract required regular service and maintenance and allowed the finance company to “inspect the pet at any reasonable time.” At the end of 27 months of $95.99 payments, they would still not own the dog, which they named Tresor.“I have never heard of leasing a dog in my life,” Anthony Claessens said. “We were under the understanding we were purchasing a dog… I feel that we were swindled.”

Whoa whoa whoa Anthony. Did you think you only had to pay $95.99 once? Did you not even read the contract before you signed?

    Didn't realize/forgot you were in SD. :)

Geez. Piss off, puppy leasers, and take your entrepreneurial spirit somewhere where it will help the world.
