Normal for baby to wander all over?

For those that read my earlier post, I ended up getting the females baby high white pied for $200. My next question is I got her home, all set up in her cage and now she wanders all over nonstop. Yesterday, she wandered for awhile and then curled up between the corner of the glass tank and her hide and went to sleep im assuming as she didn't move for hours. Today though she has been a busy bee and has just been wandering all over, climbing all over and actually flipping over her cold hide since at the moment its just a cardboard box with a door cut in it. Her warm hide is a sandstone looking rock cave. The weird part is she actually prefers to be out or curled up behind her hide between the corner or the tank and the warm hide. She seems to love to wander and not sit in her hides. Everything seems fine with temps except I cant seem to get the humidity right. Using the acurite thermometer/humidity gauge I have a reading of between 34-36 humidity and that's with covering the top. I am using a ceramic heat element for heating and thinking of switching to a UTH but its been cold up here so doubt a UTH alone will put out enough heat. Anyways, my real question is is it normal for her to be this busy? I know by nature they are quiet and my old bp was a rock inside his hides except when I took him out or it was feeding time.

Oh btw I got her Friday so its been 2 days if that helps any.

you should use a UTH along with the ceramic heating element. The under belly heat is probably what your snake is looking for. With the ceramic bulb above the warm hide, it still won't heat the area inside the hide. Also, if your humidity is off, try putting a larger water dish in there, and/or putting a damp towel inside the tank on the warm side.

Secondly, give her a few days once you make any adjustments for her to adapt to them. I have 2 babies, one born on August 24th, and the other born on October 5th, and the older one is way more adaptable than the younger one. She wanders around all the tone, but that's also partly due to the fact that I've been treating her for mites for a little while now.

Mine sleep all day, usually in their hot hides but occasionally in the cool one. Then nighttime comes and night lights go on (red heat bulb) and especially Prec is everywhere. Climbing, exploring, hanging in plants etc. The closer to feeding day the more activity. Come morning light she's back to sleeping.

I picked up a UTH for her but it's only on a rheostat with the probe from the acurite thermometer/humidity unit taped on glass floor right above the pad atm. Using that to read temps and adjusting the rheostat to keep it around 95 degrees at the center of the pad which according to my temp gun puts the paper towel flooring at 90 degrees. She is sleeping now. Guess she is backwards and likes to destroy stuff like knocking down the acurite display and pushing her little hide all over and then sleeping at night. Now I just got to get my red tail boa a new 60x27x16 Proline cage and then I can put the ball python into my 48x23x14 Proline my red tail is in now. Still cant really get the humidity up though even with putting the ceramic heat emitter above the water bowl and covering the screen top with tin foil. Might increase the water bowl size but its already pretty big. Cant really do a wet towel on the flooring as I got paper towel as her substrate at least until she is acclimated. Then I will probably switch her over to aspen like my red tail boa to make cleaning days easier. Anyways thanks for the responses and ideas.

Took me a few days to get conditions right and he felt secure enough to go into hide.

Wandering is good, they are curious and like to explore.

I'd take the tape out of the enclosure! I know it is buried but trust me if it gets stuck to your snake your talking major vet bill

I used to tape the thermostat probe inside the tank directly to the bottom and I've been scolded by numerous users on here for doing that. The problem is that the warmth will allow the tape to come up easier and if it gets attached to your snake's skin, it can rip the skin off. The other issue (which you won't have since you're using a rheostat) is that if the snake pees or tips the water bowl, it will cause the temps to be read lower. If you're using a thermostat, it will kick the UTH On and potentially burn your snake. Tape the probe to the bottom of the UTH with some heat insulation tape and you can achieve the same thing without risking your snake's well-being.

I was told tape between UTH and bottom of the tank. On the outside. Works great!

If the UTH is already stuck on, you can use aluminum tape (it's only around $3-4 for small roll) to hold the probe's wire against the UTH.

I read that it's best not to cover the probe itself, which makes sense.
