    Pied's in pre-shed question.
So the 800 gram male Pied I picked up last weekend has been acting strange all week, every time I check on him he's soaking in his water dish. I've checked his dish each time and no sign of mites so today I decided to pull him out of the bowl and get a better look at him and he's pink all over. So my question is when in pre-shed do Pied's turn pink on the back and sides as well as the belly? Temps are spot on and he is quarantined.
    Thanks, Jeff

Yes! I always found it amusing when my pied was about to shed because of how he'd turn pink.

I've the pink color is due to increased blood pressure/circulation prior to the shed as the next layer is maturing. This happens with pieds. No worries. Sometimes they will also pick up a pinkish hue just after you remove them from their cage. I've noticed this go away with a few min of handling.

I've noticed the pink hue all over on the lighter colored larger animals...
