Proper humidity for Western Hognose
My wife fell in love with hoggies a few months ago and now she has two. Where do you keep your humidity levels? Living in Southern California we can easily see humidity levels below 20%. We are getting around 30 - 35% normally in the tank. From what I can come up with they do not require the humidity levels of our ball pythons except when in shed. However, I haven't seen any specific ranges in the care sheets I have checked. I did see that high humidity can lead to a RI in hognose, but it didn't say what that would be.
Thanks!

I believe since she usually is burrowed down in the caves she makes in the substrate it gives her all she needs because I always find nice full sheds when I refresh the substrate. I do not really monitor the humidity level in her tank but being in the same room as my only other glass tank and knowing that one will stay near 30% without misting I would guess it is near the same.
I know that I really didn't give you a number but like you have seen I have never found a caresheet that put much emphasis on their humidity levels. When I got started with her the caresheet I found and liked was on the extremehogs.com site but it only mentions not having excessive high humidity for them and do not give actual numbers.
Thanks! At least I'm not the only person who hasn't seen anything specific on humidity. I appreciate the information on what you are doing!

I keep one of my hoggies in a 10 gal w/ screen top and a uth. Humidity is usually pretty low unlike my ballz. My new little one is in a small sterilite with the lid poked with a bunch of holes. Humidity is a little higher in there. BTW, are you housing the 2 of them together? I've heard it can possibly lead to cannibalism. Just an fyi.

No, they are, and always have been, in separate 5 gallon low profile tanks.
