BP terrarium setup
Will be receiving my first BP in a couple of weeks. Is it really important to have it setup before I get it or can I can I buy on the same day I get the snake? Also do I feed it in its cage or a separate area? The guy at petco told me separate but everything that I've read said in its cage? SO CONFUSED!

Re: BP terrarium setup
IMO set up a week before. Get everything working right, get thermostat set so UTH. Is reading 90. Make sure temperature is correct on both warm and cool side and humidity is good. I learned this the hard way. There is some good info in the stickies to follow on set up.

I always try to have any cage setup before I bring home its tenant. A week should be good but two would make sure you had everything dialed in.
You can in its cage. Any aggression stories you have heard are false. Search the forum as this gets discussed a lot.
Have you picked a thermostat yet? The ones in the pet stores are junk so you are probably going to want to order one. Im a Herpstat guy. http://spyderrobotics.com/home/products.html Many people also like these choices from Reptile Basics. http://www.reptilebasics.com/thermostats

It would be a good idea to have the cage ready before you get the snake, but its fine if you get it on the same day. Its just a matter of do you want the snake waiting in a box while you setup the cage? Also I would feed it in the cage. I have no idea why people move their snake to feed it.
Just to put in my opinion of the thermostat, the cheapest one I could find is http://www.amazon.com/Hydrofarm-MTPR...arm+thermostat
It works fine if you're only using it for one tank. but if you are getting/have multiple snakes, i would get one from the first link that KMG posted

As said before it can be done same day, I've done it. Have you decided if you're doing a glass tank or tub set up? Are there any items, tank, tub, heat, thermostat, hide boxes, etc that you can get in advance? As for feeding in or out of the enclosure I do both. If a tub is going to need a spot clean and water change or even a deep clean I'll usually take the snake out and feed in a feeder tub then put them back once the tub is ready to go. If a tub is fine and doesn't need any attention then I'll just feed them right in the tub.

Re: BP terrarium setup
Ok great, good advice. Now if I feed it outside of the cage how long do I wait to return him to the cage without him regurgitating? ???

Re: BP terrarium setup
I planned on getting a tank. I was also told that eco earth was safe for them to ingest.

My snakes didnt like eco earth.
As for your question above. I asked the same question a few days ago. Here is a link to the thread. I think you will find this very helpful.
The short answer is, feed him/her in the cage, not a tub.

Re: BP terrarium setup
Just read it @hijacked good info, well I'm convinced to just feed him in his enclosure. Just was trying to avoid getting nipped but I see it's going to happen one way or another.
