Advice on best morphs for new breeder
At the moment I have one 0.1 normal (breeder says fire but not seeing it), so MAYBE get fire? But if not she's always going to be my special girl.

Awaiting weather change to get shipped a 1.0 Axanthic tiger male

    I love :

bright albinos, esp albino black pastels
    BELs
    Caramels

And so many others. I don't have an specific projects in mind yet. Although was hoping to use the Axanthic on a fire to help keep the pure colors with age.

So tell me what do I need to get? Ratios male to female? Or get what I like and play around with it?

I don't expect to make money, I'd like to breed for myself mostly and find homes for the other hatchlings. I have time, money enough to be sure they get the best care and love. It just seems such a big part of enjoying them.

look at the combos that you like and then get the ingredients to make them. 3-1 or 4-1 are pretty common ratios that people use, so if you see 3 or 4 combos that you like with a common gene you could get a male with that gene and make all of them. For example if you wanted to make BELs, potions and jigsaws, you could get a Mojave male and Lesser, Mystic and pinstripe females. Also if your buying babies, get the females a year or so before you get the male. But really just shoot for what you like and have fun.

....and to cut down numbers/space get those mentioned in combos. The biggest part is figuring out what you want. lol I wanted a Metallica bp (http://www.worldofballpythons.com/morphs/metallica/). Most people aren't interested in breeding deserts due to the females inability to reproduce. I don't care if I get a female, deserts make beautiful snakes. I have a .1 Lithium and added a Pastel Tiger (Tiger=desert, Enchi) which could make a number of awesome little ones and hopefully what I am looking for...

My advice is breed for what you like. When I first discovered all the morphs in the BP world, I fell in love with BEL's. So I set up a breeding colony of animals that would allow me to produce them. And I did. My first clutch ever and I hatched 2 BEL's. No feeling like it. No $1,000,000 snakes in my collection Simple genes and the outcome is amazing.

I agree with the breed what you like. My goal is to have a BEL, a mystic potion, and an 8ball (black pastel/cinnamon), My fiancé wants to get into the bee morphs and wants a black mojo (black pastel/Mojave) so our collection is based off our future goals. Sill missing a few ingredients, but it will come with time.
