Finally thaw the rat out correct

Finally after a month of feeding him F/T I thaw the rat out correct without it opening up or him taking long to strike at it, I was so close to just switching back to live cause thawing the rat was a pain in the ass but happy to say I got it right now after trying so many different ways and he took the rat with no problem https://vimeo.com/112346035

How have you been thawing them? I find the easiest way for me to thaw is to let them thaw out at room temp and then use a hair dryer to warm them up. I used to use the warm water method of thawing but I didn't like when the rats would be soaking wet. I've never had a rat pop on me by letting them thaw at room temp. I'm glad you've found a method that's working though :)

I leave it in room temp 3-5 hrs then I put in warm water but the rat is in the zip lock bag the whole time so it don't get wet then I took it out the bag use the hair dryer checked it with the ir gun cause before I didn't have one and now he took it without a problem

Before I had to get rid of my snakes I would actually use a heat lamp clamped to a crate, with a bowl at the bottom of the crate holding the f/t feeders. Since I'm usually cramped on space the crate would be balanced on the corner of their cages. It only took about forty minutes to thaw and warm the feeders, and it had an added bonus of getting my snakes out of their hides and searching for the food. I didn't realize it until later, but I thawed rats and mice in the same bowl and ended up converting my ball python (who had only had mice from PetCo before me) right over to rats with no issues. I've always wondered if he was just not a picky eater, or if mixing the rat and mouse scents allowed him to convert to rats so easily. I've read a few posts on this site mentioning ball pythons who love eating mice and refuse rats.
