baptised with poop

Well, it happened tonight. Nugget my bp was in his feeding bin and absolutly refused to eat after 9 days. He ate a ft rat a week from last thursday, but no poop. So i assumed he was not hungry, because he struck and ate so eagerly last time. So i picked him up and my husband and i both said that neither of us has seen poop yet. As we were talking about this lack of poop, nugget decided to give me some plop right in my hand, and my clothes. Now that he's pooped and i found it, when should i try feeding him again. Isn't this an awful long time to wait to poop.

Just feed him on a regular schedule, regardless of whether he poops or not, he'll go when he has to. And no need for a feeding bin, he won't be any different if you feed him in his cage or a separate bin.

The only reason i feed in a separate bin is because so many people tell me it is bad if he eat any of the bedding. I use cypress mulch, and i really love this little guy, i don't want to do anything to get him sick. I know in the wild they must ingest all kinds of dirt, but i really wanted to avoid that. It would be easier for me to feed in the tank, and less stress for him.

I had the same problem with my BP, Monty. What I do now is I use tongs to feed him (I feed him live). It helps keep some of the substrate out of his mouth. My BP poops and pees on me all the time, check the temp in your tank. Usually, they void their bowels when they're warm. Chances are his temperatures should be a little higher than what they are so that he can void his bowels when he wants.
