    Another UTH question
So I realized the other day reading others posts that I had my Tstat hooked up wrong to the UTH. I had the probe on top of the substrate in her hot hide and the worst happened the other day. I check temps at least 3 times a day with temp gun. The probe had gotten pushed out and was measuring ambient temp about 2 inches off the substrate. Which meant the temp inside the hide was 95!! Luckil she wasn't in there. So now I've moved probe to between the heat pad and bottom of tank. The Tstat is set for 92. The heat gun is measuring temp inside of hide at 85-87 but if I move substrate and measure bottom of tank under hide it is 90. What should I do? I use reprobate. She doesn't burrow that I've noticed but spends a lot of time in hot hide. Before I moved it she wouldn't go in there if it was over 88. Ambient is 82 on hot side and 78-9 on cool side. Is this right? Help please. [emoji216][emoji53]

You should have a very thin, less then 1/4 inch, layer of substrate over the uth. Having a thick layer of substrate keeps the heat from getting through to warm the snake and it usually creates temps that are to warm on the tank floor under the substrate.

    I got for:
    Hotspot 88-90
    Ambient 77-82

So long the floor temps on the warm side (above or under the substrate) are between 86 and 92 you will be fine. :gj:

Ok took out a lot of substrate (I didn't realize hubby had put down so much) and its measuring 90 with temp gun! :)
