Baby ball python afraid of Cypress mulch..?
This is going to sound really odd. But I switched my ball pythons substrate from aspen to cypress mulch today. And for some reason he's afraid to be on the ground of the bedding. I have a little branch in there as well as vines and now he just stays up there instead of going into one of his hides. Is this normal?
    Thanks everyone (:

Snakes never do things normal. They are strange and do things just to make you worry for no reason. It will be fine and take to the change without issue.

Thank you. He seemed so weird. He actually pushed the wood bark I had to use as a back ground and went behind it. I felt bad since he looked so stressed so I switched him back to aspen. The brat is happy now lol

Sounds like he found a nice hiding spot. I think you changed to early.

I had one that played the ground is lava when I changed him to reptibark. Spent a day climbing from each of his cage decorations so as not to touch the floor of his cage. Eventually I took him out and when I placed him back in I stuck his head directly in his warm hide. He seemed to figure it was okay after it didn't incinerate him.
