    Need help ASAP! Rack temps
I have a Herpstat 2 connected to my rack system i set the herpstat to 93f so i can hit a hotspot of 90f
but my thermometer is reading 100f
should i be worried about it?
should i set thr herpstat lower temp?

FYI- i have a ZillaŽ Thermometer (which i question its accuracy)
i order a AcuRite thermometer but its suppose to come Monday
    thank you in advance

Yes! Turn down your thermostat! Even if your Zilla thermometer is off by its maximum amount, it's still at least 98.5 F in there!

Where do you have the probe for your Herpstat?

I taped it directly to the flexwatt heat tape

Okay I ran into this problem a couple of days ago. The most important temperature is what the floor of the tub temperature is. Your heat tape is going to be way hotter than the actual temperature of the floor of your tub. I have a herpstat 2 that is currently set at 107 to get a 92 degree hot spot on my tub; my heat tape is show hotter than that. I have received conflicting comments on whether to attach the probe of the herpstat to the heat tape or the bottom of the tub. I highly recommend purchasing a heat temperature gun.

Did you put the tape on the probe itself or on the cord? What kind of tape did you use?

I also run a herpstat. Turn the stat down a bit til you get a better thermometer. I use a temp gun and it works well. I have my probe under my heat tape. My temps run pretty true. I am very pleased with my herpstat. I have no issues with it and would recommend it to anyone.

Electrical tape is fine, but I'd recommend moving the tape from the probe to the cord just below the probe. It's possible that the tape covering the probe is causing inaccuracies in the measurements it's taking.
