First shed - should I help?
So Atticus has been hiding for the last week or so, and when I went to check on him today, I saw that he was in the process of shedding. It seemed to be going well at first. The head and eye caps came off, and then he started to work on the rest and the first piece broke off. This process seems to be tiring him out. He's resting right now, and I'm not sure how long I should wait before I help him. I have been trying to keep his humidity above 60 over the last week, and closer to 70 by misting lightly several times per day. Ambient temp of the enclosure is always around 80. I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but he has been in his warm hide all week; his UTH is kept around 90, so it fluctuates between about 88 and 92.

If tomorrow the shed is not complete (and remember a shed can be in on piece or several) just get a towel, get it wet with warm water and let your snake slither through it so he can rub himself and allow for whatever may be stuck to come off.

If your humidity has really been in the range you said you should not have any issues.

If it is flaking off I would mist before going to bed and leave it be.

When I mist its not light, especially with a upcoming shed.

Thanks, Deborah. I will give that a try if he hasn't completed his shed by morning.

Who would have thought it would be my scalebaby and not my furbabies keeping me up at night? (Probably you guys...)

You can also try giving your Atticus a hide with some moss or damp paper towels
