Perhaps it would work best for everyone, including your snakes, if you did research on the topic you have questions about. I know some people (not necessarily you) get turned off by reading through pages and pages of websites describing the breeding process and how to handle your snakes during that time. So videos seem to be the wave of the future that can provide a ton of information and honestly I prefer them because there are no wordy descriptions, good videos actually show you what they are talking about.

Then there could be an actual conversation about your specific questions if they were not answered in the videos you watched.

So, to get you started on the right foot, and not supply you with an over simplified answer devoid of any information... I like JKobylka's videos and he has a whole series of them on breeding.

I just know they are called pro tips: ball python breeding so that is what I searched and here is the result: JKR Videos

They probably wont all be useful to you ( you probably dont have an ultrasound) but there is a 5 (I think) part series here that has answered a TON of questions for me. I still watch it every year as a refresher.

Because yes, your snakes SHOULD be eating during breeding months, how to be sure they continue to eat may in some cases be a more difficult question that requires planning knowledge.

Simple questions get simple answers. If more info are required I am pretty sure the OP is highly capable of asking.

Sorry for getting off topic JK, and there is no harm in asking basic questions its why most of us are involved in a community.


Pretend a person asking a really basic question doesn't know there are other questions out there that might help them. Some times people come here and don't know what they should be asking. Ever notice how problem feeder threads always switch immediately to husbandry threads?

Assuming JK has not gone through a breeding season before based on this question there is a lot of stuff to have in your head that can help. Yes your animals should be eating but breeding can be stressful on some animals so some times more effort is required to make this a successful venture. For example some people move the male around during breeding season, in this case a set schedule can help the male to be a tiny bit less stressed and thereby a tiny bit more likely to eat when offered.

So JK like I said, though it could be rehashed here it would most likely be far more complete to get the info all at once and possibly more info than you need, but its a video so you can watch it as many times as you need to, like I said I watch it again every year.

I already knew the answer was just curious about feedback. Peoples methods differ. In the wild there is no feeding or not feeding if they are hungry they eat if not they dont :) it is very simple

Exactly right JK I assume the BP communities differing techniques are simply attempts to optimize the process.

There is no hijacking here or need to to PM for any reason.
It was a yes or no question that you felt the need or had the time to elaboate on.
Some of us pop in and out throught the day and dont have time to type out a longwhinded answer.
There have been several posts that I felt needed more and many that need less but it all fepends on the time I havr at that moment.
Should a short post offend you, you shouldnt worry about it unless directed at you. :gj:
