    Finally got my first carpet!
I went to Atlanta Repticon this weekend and wanted only one snake... A jungle carpet. I've looked the last two shows and didn't have any luck. This time, I saw a few mediocre jungles and almost left disappointed. I finally came across a guy (can't remember his name unfortunately) who was selling his own BPs, but also had a few carpets he was selling for his friend Dan Craft (Emerald Coast Exotics). I ended up getting a male jaguar (there were 2m / 2f to choose from) but he also had some amazing looking zebra jungles and some just insane looking zebra jags. My male jaguar seemed to have the cleanest background / contrast out of the jaguars, and although I'm not a huge fan of his mostly banded pattern, I know that many love that in carpets. He took a f/t mouse hopper for me yesterday and I have already had to clean his tub, so I guess his digestive system is working fine. I have messaged his breeder for more info on his hatch date and his parents and will let you know what he says.

I apologize about the pic quality... I had to take him out of his tub to clean and could only get a quick pic using my cell phone.

Very nice carpet. That's actually going to be my next purchase in early 2015 :). Sounds like the Atlanta Repticon had a little more diversity than normal. Congrats on the beautiful new addition.

    Thanks guys!
I heard back from the breeder and he said that the parents were: Mother 75% IJ Jag, Father 25% diamond zebra and his hatch date was May 2014

The other siblings that were there (the zebra jags and zebras) were just drop dead gorgeous... Highlighter yellows, even on the jags... But were out of my price range ($400 for the zebras and $750 for the zebra jags). If you're looking for a nice zebra jag though, check him out. My little guy was a steal at $125.

There were only 2 other sellers with carpets... 1 a juvenile nice jungle for $350 and the other seller had some very muddy looking jungles that looked to be about the same age as mine.

I would say there were more geckos at this atlanta show than I've seen before... And more boas and rainbow boas than I've seen previously. I was not overly impressed with the overall selection though... That said, I'm very glad I went and picked up my guy.

I'll get better pics once he's finished with his 2 week settling in period.

    That's the stuff!

I think you'll love the species. Semi arboreal is a great term, and the "semi" part does not mean they climb now and then. They are 50/50 or more in my experience when young, and if you read some good text on them, you'll find adults are about the same.

    Enjoy!

Thanks guys! He's already fed twice for me and defecated twice, so seems to be in good shape. He's plenty "nippy" so I can't wait for his 2 week acclimation period to be over so that I can start working with him. I think I'm already wanting more lol. I wanted a nice jungle, so I will probably still end up wanting one. I can already say that in the few moments i've had him out (to clean said messes) he's had a great exploring attitude (when he's not striking at everything that moves lol).

He'll settle pretty fast. I've been bitten by my coastal 3 times and haven't seen a spot of blood yet.

It's really hard to pick between boas and carpets, so having BOTH is a must!

You've got that sweet boa from Tom and now a carpet, plus the other stuff.

Looks to be a nice collection.
