New ball python owner, Humidity level won't go down
Hey guys I just got a new ball python today and my humidity levels have been really high for some reason. It's gotten has high as 78% and I have no idea why.

My snake's in a 12qt sterilite tub (15 x 11.5) and I've soldered at least 20 holes on each side along with several holes on the lid. I have the water bowl sitting on the cold side of the tub yet the humidity still refuses to go down.

    Any advice?
I'm also using an ucurite thermometer-hydrometer and Aspen bedding.

High humidity wouldn't cause a problem as much as low humidity. I'm from SE Asia, and humidity here is almost constantly 70%. You can try to lower humidity by soldering more holes, in a criss-cross fashion on all 4 sides, so that airflow is maximum.

I've got a lot of holes soldered into the long sides and the lid...would a red light bulb screwed into a desk lamp work to lower the humidity a bit? I don't want to stress the little guy out by taking him out to solder a couple holes since I just got him yesterday.

As long as mold isn't growing I wouldn't worry about it

Like stated above as long as mold doesn't grow your fine.

Adding more air flow in the room will drop it some. You can add a fan on the other side of the room or turn a ceiling fan on a low speed to get it to drop. Do not point a fan directly at the tub.

Thanks guys for the help! The humidity seems to go down during the day but it's still pretty inconsistent. I'll keep an eye out for mold and might get a fan or something for my room!.
