Ball pythons outside

Hello!

Maybe another newbie question, I've been prowling this site for ages and soaking everything in like a sponge, but I have another question that I didn't see an answer to. I see a lot of pictures of people with their ball pythons outside. Is that safe? I've never had a ball, when I was young I had a kingsnake and that sucker could be fast when it wanted to. Isn't there a danger of your snake zooming off and hiding and you never seeing it again? And the temperature - would it have to be pretty hot outside to keep them happy? I mean obviously some time away from their perfect temperatured cage isn't going to be a huge deal, but... I'd love to bring my future snake outside, but I won't lie when I say I'm really hesitant!

Ball pythons move very slowly, so as long as you don't just walk off they aren't just going to crawl off and be gone. You do want it to be 75F or above to take them outside, and I prefer having low wind and a good amount of sun if it's below 80F. That way the ground will be nice and warm for them, and the air will be an acceptable range as well. I don't normally keep them out more than an hour, or two at most. Generally I have them out for about 30 minutes.

personal choice here, I don't bring mine outside and believe nothing good can come from it.
I don't have any issues with others doing it though.

I take mine outside to take pictures because the lighting in my house is so bad, but the outdoors won't hurt your snake. These snakes have been living outside in the elements for millions of years so taking your snake out won't kill it. As long as the temps are nice and warm and you keep an eye on them they will be A okay [emoji4] hope this is helpful.

They are fine as long as the temps are at least 75, but not excessively hot either. Also don't put them in the grass if the lawn has been treated with chemicals!!! I am kinda of the opinion of brock, there really is not a necessity for them to be outside, and I have known of people who did take theirs outside, and the neighbors caused all kinds of problems for them when they found out they owned snakes.

Obviously they live in the wild and there is nothing wrong with taking them outside. I'm not taking mine out just so I have less of a chance of having to fix any bug/mite infestation that could be picked up during their adventures.

Thanks everyone. :) I was mostly concerned about said snake zooming off on me, but if they're a pretty slow species then maybe. I'd mostly want to bring him outside for pictures! Best lighting out there after all.
