    Really need some help please
i have a male spinner blast around a year old that just out of the blue developed a severe wobble. It all began when i left a rat (f/t) inside its cage over night (he only eats when i'm not around). the next day i went back to check on rat, the snake did not eat it however the snake was covered in mites. i immediately took the tub outside and examined the snake. the amount of mites on him was just scary, it made my skin crawl. The mites were all inside of his skin, like it was part of its pattern. i soaked him for 30 minutes, set up a new tub and lathered him with Deflea reptile spray. After 3 days ill say 80% of the mites have died. however i noticed him having a slight wobble now. anyways i thought it was normal since he does have the spider gene. i cleaned out the tub and lathered him again with the mite treatment. 3 days later less mites were on him. this time i noticed his skin is getting flaky so i soaked him. but as soon as i let him go into the water, i knew there was something wrong. he was doing alligator rolls his head was everywhere upside down, spinning. i can tell he is trying to escape the water, but he just cant. after a violent spasm he just stopped, his head under water. i had to hold his head up. this was very scary for as i had mite problems before and non of my snakes had this problem (inducing a base spider morph) to the mite spray. what do you guys think is wrong with the snake? what should i do? please really need help before this escalates anymore.

I just read this did you just get this snake ? I hope he's in Quarantine if you have other snakes ? Can you get this snake to a A Vet? Also if he had tons of mites they have been sucking Blood like crazy which in its self is a form of poison and the mite stuff again a poison this snake sounds like you need to see a Vet like now.

Maybe Im missing something but thats stuff says use on Dogs and cats I dont see anything about using on snakes or any other animal. I hope your Snake makes it through this with no more side effects.

I'm sorry but that product should never, ever be used on snakes. It contains over 2% PYRETHRINS which are very toxic to reptiles and fish and as you just found out, can cause severe neurological problems.

I don't know what a vet can necessarily do since there really isn't a treatment except supportive care - keep him in appropriate conditions and hope he works that crap out of his system.

In the future if you get mites use the tried-and-true treatments for snakes, either PAM or the NIX/RID mixed with water, always applied to the enclosure and never on the snake. Get some Natural Chemistry Reptile Spray for the snake.

Please get that poor baby to a vet ASAP! It sounds like that little one has been poisoned. Timing is critical if you expect that snake to survive.
