Stuck eye cap

So Arabella has had a stuck eye cap for as long as i have had her.. I have tried soaking her and gently rubbing her eye from head to tail motion but it hasn't come off yet.. Since i have owned her (which is about a month, maybe little longer) she hasn't shed a single time but has had three meals.. What can i do to help her.. Like i said i tried the soaking method and it didn't work, and it made her really mad lol.. Thanks in advance y'all..

I had this very same issue a few years ago ... with an Albino Royal Python ..

I soaked the snake in a secure container , 90% full of snake temp water , for 30 minutes and then got a soaking wet towel and let the snake crawl through the towel repeatedly ... as soon as the head came out if the towel I covered it over again and kept letting it crawl around in the towel , making sure I was putting gentle pressure on its eyes , if that all makes sense .

Anyways , the eye caps came off and she broke her feeding fast the next day !!!

She also looked bladdy stunning !!

There is a special kind of scale that covers the eye called a brille, or spectacle, ocular scale, etc. This special scale can actually be popped off which basically destroys the vision of that eye.

For this reason it is important to NOT try to physically help a bad shed off the eye. You could accidentally pull the whole spectacle off not just the bad shed.

There are different numbers for different people but you should wait at least one shed to let it come off on it's own, for no other reason than to save on vet bills and snake stress. Your doing the right thing with soaking, the better the shed presumably the more likely this piece of bad shed will come off. Most shed aids say not to spray near the head but some people talk about using allow to help, never have myself.

At some point if it does not come off on its own bad sheds will build up and cause their own problems like infection. At this point, hopefully it never comes to it, you will want to bring her into a vet and have the bad shed removed.

Leave it be..it will come off when the next shed..just be patient, it will happen.. Also make sure to up the humidity levels a bit whenever she goes into her shed cycle..:gj:

Thanks everyone who replied and this quote is because of the humidity, sadly i don't have an actual mister yet, so i just use a spray bottle for the time being.. Usually the humidity is 50-60 but i have been keeping it above 70 lately due to i think shes gonna shed due to when i held her, some of her scales seemed to be loose, plus her belly is slightly pink.. Her eyes haven't blued yet and her scales aren't dull..

It sounds like you are right. A spray bottle should be fine, you don't need humidity on a regular enough basis to require a mister I don't think.

If you have a screen topped enclosure you can also lay a towel or something over it to slow down the air movement. This will still let oxygen through but also keep some moisture in. If you like this idea then something like tinfoil works better on a long term basis but then you'd obviously have to leave some method of air movement.
