    BP Cross-Border Shipping
    Hey all,

I'm in Canada (BC). How does shipping of BPs work for me buying BPs from the US? BPs are CITES Appdx 2 animals and require a permit. Does the shipper have to have one or does the buyer? How does that work? I'm looking at a hatchling from Utah and the seller is telling me they have a CITES permit and therefore I don't ned one. Is that how it works? Or am I still looking at duties, taxes, etc. They are saying shipping is about $50 which sounds ok, but I don't want to be caught with other fees and have the BP caught at customs.

Unless the seller had regular deliveries to Canada, you are looking at paying a couple hundred dollars in shipping and fees. I would loom into reptile express in Canada, they offer an import/export service that is pretty close to the same price as doing it your self. Just out of curiosity, what kind of ball are you looking at? You can find most morphs in Canada. Maybe someone else can chime in about proper permits, but I believe for cites II it's just the exporting country that needs the permit. Also, 50 seems extremely cheap for international shipping.

It's an exceptional deal on a really nice-looking (albeit small) clown male. It's a quarter of the price of what I would pay in Canada. The seller is telling me that they are regular shippers to Canada so I don't have to worry about it. They are claiming $50 shipping is all I have to worry about. I've never bought from the US so I don't want to get caught with extra fees.

I would ask if he guarantees that shipping price, meaning that's all you have to pay. Other than that, I'm not sure as I haven't done it myself.

Ask him if he's CITES certified.

I know that this is a late response, but I'd hate to see someone ship an animal to you "under the radar". That doesn't seem right to me, but you could reach out to someone like Justin Kobylka (who ships internationally all the time) if that sounds like a legitimate cost to ship from the US to Canada.
