9 month fast finally over!!!
My male and female piebalds simultaneously went on a very long and concerning fast. They were 10 months and 8 months respectively. And needless to say, after 6 months I started getting worried.
I called my breeder, (Garrick DeMyer) and he didn't seemed concerned he told me not to worry and to offer prey once a week and not to stress them. I also took advice from Justin who recommends moving fasting snakes to a different environment to eliminate any scent issues that my be going on.
Well, finally they started eating last month and are slamming rats every 5-7 days and are slowly gaining weight.:D
I wish I learned some tips, tricks or secrets to get a BP to eat but what I learned is what you really need is patience and perseverance.
Anyone else want to share your BP fasting experiences? ;)
Re: 9 month fast finally over!!!
If you don't already have one, I'd get a gram scale and monitor his weight monthly. I was surprised that in the 9 months that my pieds went on their strike they only lost ~5% of their body weight.
