:( so horrible to hear about things like this, a nightmare to think about let alone to go through that! My heart goes out to the owners of the snakes! <3 I know how devastated I would be.

    Oh how awful. :(

I'm surprised this didn't hit my "local" reptile FB feeds last night. A breeder with a decent sized collection like that should have an online presence.

Is this Larry Kenton's house, or have two herpers in the mid-Atlantic had house fires in the last 2 days?

Ok I just confirmed it was Larry's place. For those who don't know he's the owner of Maryland Reptile Farm and he puts on several of the expos in the mid-Atlantic area as well.

Wow. Glad he and his family are safe. My college roommates house burned down and he lost both his dogs. I know how devastated he was. Couldn't imagine not only losing my pet family and my business.

Out of curiosity can reptile breeders get insurance coverage for their collection? I deal with insurance in my work and I know businesses can get coverage for loss of business caused by a disaster.

After ProExotics had their fire I made the asserted effort to do as much as I can to prevent the same thing from happening in my collection. I've installed GFI outlets in my room, I now use surge protectors, and have been working over the last year to do away with all my soldered flexwatt and go to all THG heat tape and use insulated non-soldered connections for everything. Not only is it easier to do but it is such a better way to connect electrical parts together ..

Most insurance company's wont insure a living animal what you can do is raise the per room value to cover the snakes. Like my home has a 30K per room full replacement value. So if my house burns down I get 30K per room to rebuild and replace everything in it.
