    Rat or Mouse?
Before anyone says anything, please read the whole thing. :)

I got my ball python on Saturday and I'm feeding her tonight (the breeder said to try tonight and not to worry if it doesn't work, I know most people wait longer). I checked over her feeding chart (she's a baby, has only eaten three times), and the most recent thing she ate was a fuzzy rat. It was probably live, I don't think she's been switched to frozen thawed yet, which I will be doing. My question is whether I should offer a fuzzy rat or a small mouse. I was going to try a mouse because she might be more interested in it, but I don't want to put back her feeding progress. Will it matter if I offer a mouse? Will I be able to go for rats later? I want to try to minimize on missed meals because she's so young.

If she's already on rats and that's what you plan on feeding her, you should continue to feed her rats. Don't switch her to mice now, otherwise you may have a hard time getting her back on rats. If she doesn't eat the rat now, she's probably not hungry or still adjusting. Give her time to get used to her new home. :)

Ok, I have a rat thawing right now. Thanks! :)

    Well how did it go?

    Feed what they will eat.
    What is her weight?
If she has only eaten 3 times I doubt she is over 100g, I would keep her on live till she weighs a little more and can afford to miss a couple feedings.
