    Ball python age?????
Hi I purchased a captive bred normal ball python from petco on september 15th. All they could tell me about the age was that its under a year old. I weighed my snake at 320 grams when i got him And hes 370 grams now. I dont even know that its a boy, i want to pop or probe the snake but im worried i will harm him and i dont want to buy sexing probes to use them only one time lol. The snake is 33 inches in length when i checked last week. Any ideas on how old a 370 g, 33 in male or 370 g, 33 in female is? Ive just been dying to know an approximate age for my buddy Osirus.

No way to know - depends on how he was fed, how often he was fed, what size meal he ate, how often he ate/if he refused, and just general growth rate/genetics. Could be 4 months old, could be 11.5 if under a year was honest. They're not like dogs or cats. They don't have any real easy ways to tell age like teeth or set rates of growth.

Without already knowing, I don't think there's a sure way to tell. All pythons grow at different rates, and you're snake could be anywhere from 5 months to a year old. I have three snakes that hatched out this year, and they weigh in at around 100, 150, and 200 respectively, and I don't have a hatch date for any of them. My 2013 of unknown month is almost 600, and I'm thinking my 800g boy is around 2 years or so, but I have no actual idea. Don't let it bother you too much, it isn't very important to know as far as husbandry goes.

My best guess would be around 6 to 10 months old, but the possibility of being older is there.
